Lactose free formula bad for baby?

My baby has a lactose intolerancy. Until we kinda experiement with solids, we dont know what degree of intolerancy it is.. he was switched to lactose free formula when he was about 3 weeks old by a baby nurse.

Lately I have heard that by giving them no lactose, you are killing any chance their bodies have of building up the ability to deal with lactose later. Is this true.. should I switch to normal formula and see how he goes? They can grow out of lactose intolerance depending on the level of the reaction they have to it. I just hope I am not stopping his body from learning how to di that.

that is soooo not true…both of my babies were on lactose free formula, I switched them to one because they both had trouble with gas and spit up and the lactose free was like night and day and they both had no more gas and stop spitting up….both of them can now drink milk and eat diary with absolutely no problems what so ever
